  • Lego house, gets its name from the “form play” the architect has achieved using modular set of spaces derived from the base structural grid. The critical space under discussion however, is the terrace pad the architect designed for himself. Technically a staircase head room, This vertical core is expanded in 5 planes, within the allowance of bylaws, to be made into a 60 Sqm pad. The five niches thus formed, from the core space, start taking in various functions like cooking, sleeping, reading, bathing etc respectively, Keeping the centre fluid. The pad also opens into a three sided large terrace, part of which is shaded, to extend as a outdoor dwelling space. The unit is finished with an array of materials, some deliberate and some incidental, to become a library of sorts for architecture and an exciting background for art. The space respite being in the busiest junction of the city, offers a stillness, that inspires musicians, artists, designers and terrace gardeners to work with it and create a mutual bonding.
